The Velveteers Ignite The Slowdown with Raw Energy and Thunderous Sound

Omaha’s beloved music venue, The Slowdown, was packed to the rafters on Thursday night as The Velveteers took the stage for a sold-out performance that left the crowd buzzing long after the final note rang out. The alternative rock trio, known for their ferocious sound and electrifying stage presence, delivered a show that was equal parts visceral and hypnotic.

From the moment lead vocalist and guitarist Demi Demitro strutted onto the stage, her towering presence and snarling riffs set the tone for the night. Clad in her signature rock-and-roll aesthetic, she wielded her guitar like a weapon, slicing through the air with blistering solos and fuzz-drenched chords. Backed by the band’s unique dual-drummer lineup—Baby Pottersmith and Jonny Fig—The Velveteers filled the room with a wall of sound that was both chaotic and impossibly tight.

The setlist spanned the band’s catalog, with standout tracks like “Dark Horse” and “Father of Lies” sending the audience into a frenzy. The haunting “Charmer And The Snake” showcased Demitro’s commanding vocals, dripping with menace and allure. Meanwhile, the drummers’ synchronized, pounding rhythms drove home the primal energy that makes The Velveteers such a compelling live act.

For those lucky enough to snag a ticket, it was a night to remember. And for those who missed out? Let’s hope The Velveteers make their way back to Omaha soon—because The Slowdown has never felt so alive.
